hello, i am new here so please bear with me if i do not make the slightest bit of sense!
just wondered if i could get some much needed advice as my car is due for its service & mot & i am aware that there are a few things that will need attention. I dont want to look totally clueless at the garage & risk getting ripped off! (no offence to the nice garages out there!)
i have had my 2001 (xreg) punto for almost 2 years now, its got 39000 on the clock.
1. I had part of my exhaust replaced last year due to a hole that caused it to sound like a racing car! There have been no further probs until about a month ago when i thought i had a cats tail hanging out of the exhaust! i have been told that this indicates that the (?)rear box needs to be replaced? is this right & if so how much should it cost roughly?
2. I had 4 new tyres fitted last year, all but one seem to be doing ok - the driver side front tyre seems to be more worn however this may be due to the slow puncture??
3. Think the brakes are on the way out - how much roughly?
sorry to be such a girl but i just have a bit of garage phobia!
any advice greatly appreciated
;)

Welcome!

It's the carbon fibre from the rear silencer box. Needs replacing, I'm afraid.

Oh, dear! Fix punctures straight away. It's cheaper that way. It could be tracking, suspension or any number of other problems. Get it checked out by a garage.

What makes you think that? Just had a new set of drums and shoes fitted to rear of a Marea. Ripped off at £300, but I wasn't at home and the grinding noise was unbearable.
