2018 fiat 500x, rear brake light out, right turn signal out, parking light out.

Check the connectors and to no surprise, the right connector is melted. Of course the vehicle is no longer under warranty. What are my options here? I cant drive the car in this condition. I dont know how to solder. Can I not just buy the pigtail connector and splice it with electrical tape or can I use a six pin wago connector to the existing wiring? From what I can tell, it is just the pigtail connector that is melted.

Hello,

Is it an automatic? or manual? If the car isn't an automatic, just stop keeping your foot on the brake pedal when not in motion :) And Dualogic / Comfortmatic isn't an automatic, so no need to keep the foot on the brakes ;) Handbrake should be used for that.

If you cannot solder (that isn't that hard, is it?) there are solutions you could use temporarily before you get a car to an electrician.

Of course you will need a new connector and an electrical insulating tape.

Assuming the new connector is coming with wires, cut the old connector out, take the insulation off the each wire on both sides (the car and the new connector) on like 5 - 7 mm length and

1. Twist the wires together

2. Use a connecting tube connector:

First one from amazon. You can use standard pliers to crush the tube with both wires inside.

3. Use welding heatshring tubes, they are crap, but will work as a temporary solution:

However a heating gun or a powerfull hair dryer would be necessary.

Again, a first one from amazon.

For all of the above solutions at the end secure the connection with insulating tape (you can eventually use heatshrink tube, will do the same). However the method with the insulating tape will be easiest to remove by the electrician.

4. Use a wago or similar connector that you will be able to secure with a lever or screw. If it has metal parts outside, it needs to be insulated the same way as the previous ones.

Then, you can ask your favourite search engine how to securely connect 2 wires together with no tools ;) If you'll add 'video', or 'youtube' to the search request, you'll get lots of videos how to do it ;)

And finally get the car to an electrician :)
