Grande Punto actuator control (duel logic gears) needs replacing £1200.

Dear Forum

I am new to all of this but as i find myself in need of advice.
i own a fiat punto grand duel logic 09. ive just been told the actuator control (gears) needs replacing £1200. im surprised as ive barely done 31,000 and only drive local. Havnt done the cannon ball run!! my question is is this something that happens to this model?
any advise welcome

Get onto Fiat customer care. State that you are really unhappy with this repair bill on a car that is not very old and has low miles. As long as it has full fiat history while under warranty and hasn't been abused they will probably ask you to get the diagnosis confirmed at a Fiat dealer and go from there.
Don't take no for an answer. Generally they are quite good and you may be surprised. Least you might get is a goodwill gesture towards the repair.
If you don't ask you don't get!

YES - these things can and DO go wrong , BUT £1200 sounds a LOT so I presume that's from a FIAT dealer.
at 4 years old you will be lucky to get it covered by FIAT , but as stated you may get a "gesture" discount
- otherwise go to a FIAT / Alfa independent specialist who will have done ALL this work before and should have a sensible time / hourly rate for the job,
