hi guys, my accelerator cable snapped friday, i wasnt too bothered becuase its happened about 18 months back and the replacement was only £25 from fiat

i called round a couple of fiat garages, and they are telling me the part has been discontinued...ive called round a few scrap yards with no joy

i need help...i need my car driving again

i was told that theres a company that make a new cable for you if you send them the broken old cable, does anyone know if this is true?

or any other help would be great

thanx,
Stu

I doubt its discontinued. Try somewhere else. PartCo, GeneralTraffic, other motorfactors.

tried em mate, they say main dealer, tried 5 different main dealers and they all say the same

Seems odd for Fiat to discontinue a part, afterall theres plenty of Bravo's still about. Well i still doubt its discontinued, but if it is then i suggest www.partsgateway.co.uk

Mine snapped in october lst year and i couldn't get hold of a new 1 either so i got a brake cable frm halfords and put that in place and its still going strong 2day!

Main dealers generally carry parts for up to 10 years on vehicles...

Any older than that, and it's harder if not impossible to get parts.

well im calling non stop round fiat places, started calling nationwide now too, ive called halfords and just about any number the fiats guys are passing me

all anyone can say is thats ridculous that they have discontinued the part

ffs whats ridiculous is i need to fix my friggin car, lol

Stu,

If you're trying nationwide, then give one of my local motor factors a call.

They stock near on everything possible, and if not on the shelf, can more than likely get it..

Ask for Roger...if he's in.

If they have one, but can't post it.. let me know and I'll sort it for you.

When my throttle cable snapped on the M4 a couple of years ago, the AA man got it sorted in a few minutes by pulling the inner cable out from both ends, leaving the outer cable in place. He then threaded a new inner wire through from the engine into the car, crimped a connector onto the end that attaches to the pedal, pulled the whole thing tight, and crimped on a new end at the engine side.

I was told it was a temporary repair, but it was still working three months and 7000 miles later when I finally got a new cable fitted.
