Hello,

I have a problem with my 1.9 150HP 2005 croma. It has no acceleration. when I push the throttle hard it takes a while to speed up. Recently I downloaded the multiecuscan and scanned my car and it had no errors. I also cleaned the EGR although it was not bad when I removed it. the car has almost 200.000KM(124274 miles). has removed the MAF just to test it but it was the same. the DPF was about 20% when checked. I noticed that of the inj. correction valves were, no.3 -1.sth no.4 -2.03.I've also noticed that the turbo leaks but not that much. the last thing is the woshhhhh noise at 1800rpm.
any advice?
Thanks

Well as you have MES you can check (assuming you haven't already) the throttle demand/potentiometer signal values. Likewise there are various other parameters such a Required/Desired and actual Boost Pressure, Fuel pressure and desired fuel pressure, etc.

Just some thoughts.

Final advice is DO NOT trust just because MES / other diagnostic tool says X,Y,X is an issue then THIS IS the issue. A common mistake many garages make is taking the info from their diagnostic kit as being the truth, whole truth and nothing else matters.

All these tools are PRESENTERS OF INFORMATION. From that point on one has to reason and think laterally, couple the diag info with basic engine knowledge etc. and then run the various faults/scenarios that could lead to the potential issue.

e.g. Low boost = blown turbo? = faulty boost sensor? = split hose? = damaged/partially open waste gate? = ? = ?

It often takes time and thinking cap on to resolve some issues. Sometimes people/garages want a quick fix and go for the immediate obvious then end up in a replace this, replace that, replace the other loop.

First of all, thank you for your information.
I've seen those parameters too but the problem is that I can't read them. I mean I didn't know what desired and required means. the problem is that if I go to my mechanic,I'm afraid I will start changing parts one by one until find the problem. In my country these kind of cars are rare an the mechanics are not that used to them.
by the way I also cleaned the boost sensor.
soon I'll be out of options and will go to authorized service, but you know what happens there.:p

Hi your car may mave swirl valve trouble when ours had a similar acceleration isue it was stuck swirl valves and no fault was displayed. With the plastic engine cover off check that rod on top of the air manifold moves when the ignition is switched on.

Don't think it will be a swirl valve problem UNLESS they are stuck closed which is pretty unusual. But certainly worth a check.

The default positions for swirl valves are:

Ignition Off: Fully Open
Ignition On: Fully Open
Engine Idle to 1500/2000 rpm: Fully Closed
Engine over 1500/2000 rpm: Fully Open

If I remember correctly the swirl valves are fully open when the actuator bar to left most/cam sprocket end positioned.

Hello everyone,

I've recently cleaned the swirl valve. it was blocked but now it is OK. it is still the same situation regarding the acceleration. I've seen in the other threads that several commentators refer to EGR problem. I've cleaned the EGR but the situation was still the same. there are no alarms in the ECU regarding EGR. I want to ask for a way to test the EGR(for ex. like the test for MAF that you disconnect the sensor to test if it's broken or not or sth like that.). or maybe any indicator in the ECU scan that can tell that it might be in the limits or almost broken.

Thanks.

If you have a leak in the intake system / turbo, you need to sort that out first. It may be cause but even if not it may affect the diagnosis.

Hello Robert,

Sorry, I forgot to mention. I fixed this problem too. A metallic clump was released from the hose tube(This was what my mechanic said). Now the leak is gone. But the car still struggles to accelerate under 2000rpms, even in high gears. Recently I've also regen & washed the DPF. I really don't know what else to check. the lack of faults has left me no other options. Please feel free to suggest anything.
Thanks.

Faulty intake manifold with non operational swirl valves result in the same symptoms no power or low power until 1800rpm and lots of power after 1800rpm. The swoosh sound at 1800rpm is normal almost all have it. To cure th problem you can replace the intake manifold (new only as most used ones are no good as well) 250-350eur plus labor, or you can put a Vectra C swirl elimination kit on the intake or just get used to driving it at 1800+rpm for power.
