Big shoutout for new Ducato parts from Guest Trucks, Peterborough ...
The ABS unit in our Ducato-based motorhome failed (no speed signal, limited engine power, ABS failure light) so I had it repaired by an ECU Repair workshop. Unfortunately it only worked for 30 miles before the fault recurred. After sending the ABS unit back for a warranty repair it was said to be faulty beyond repair so the repair fee was refunded – no replacement unit was available.
I then sent the ABS unit off to another repairer and surprisingly got a different unit back, which was 'remanufactured' and supposedly had a new PCB board fitted. The speedo now worked but the ABS failure light on the dashboard was still illuminated. It had a different internal fault as identified by Fiat-specific MultiEcuScan software. I sent the replacement unit back for another repair and this time the internal fault was cleared but the speed data from the ABS unit to the body computer was corrupt so the ABS failure light was still on.
After the MOT expired I had to give up and buy a new unit. List price for a new ABS pump/modulator unit quoted by two separate Fiat Professional garages was £2562!!!
After I asked Guest Trucks in Peterborough for a discount they pulled a few strings and promptly supplied a new item for around half price. It didn't need “PROXI-alignment” (coding to the vehicle) and works a treat so I'm very pleased with that!
If you need any genuine parts for your van it might be worth giving Guest Trucks, Peterborough a call.
