sounds more like they stuffed your old ecu back on and fixed the wiring fault to me but wheel never know realy
but at least you got it fixed anyway whichever way they did it

i believe it is fiat minimum standard to have at least 6 or 8 loan cars I'm not sure but there should have been a shiny new fiat for you to drive wile yours was in for work that I find completely unacceptable
have you ever tried going on the ata accredited technition award web site and looking up the nearest master technition at a fiat dealer near you that way you can be sure someone that knows what there doing will work on your car
