I have a knocking noise comming from my passangers side, it sounds like a part is hitting a rubber or simmilar.

I hawe new shocks, new wishbone, new anti roll bar rubbers (the two small ones on the link), new steering rack with all elements, but the knocking is still there.

The shafts have no free space (no movement) and the CVs are all OK (new grease and checked).

Please does anyone have an idea what could cause the noise.

Gimme your sugjestions what to check.

Tom ;) ?

Thanks

Have you checked the engine mounts??

SEX...I'm just two women short of a Threesome

I would of said engine mounts, and any other joints i.e CV Joints. Did you remove the drive shafts by any chance?

Do you get the knocking noise going over bumps or when turning?

Engine mounts OK
Drive shafts all out - OK
CV joints, both of them where taken out, cleaned inspected, new grease - OK

Dhe noise is there even on a slight bumps - makes asound similar to something vibrating on rubber

Have you had a tracking and wheel alignent done to check its all ok track rod end perhaps??
any rubber mounts there is quite a few.

Theres something in the region of 8 arb bushes iirc. Also, re-cjeck the wishbones. I had a new pair fitted, and the ball joint failed on one of them after only 6 months. been fine ever since mind you.

Sounds a bit like the problem I had a few weeks back. It turned out to be the rubber bit underneath the spring had slipped out somehow, and the spring was just bashing on the metal plate like bit of the shock.
Atleast thats what the mechanic said, but also my shock was split due to our speed ramps anyway so I also got them replaced. Either way the noise disappeared.

The trac rod ends are new, as the whole steering rack.
The tracking is done and its fine.
All other rubber parts on the anti roll bar are fine - the 2 rubbers that hold the bar, the two link bars with thread on them, are fine(all ruberised right), the small rubbers on them are new.
The shock was taken out again just to check that ring on top - all fitted right back again.
The only thing I can think of is that fiat sold me a wrong wishbone.

Yes that could be possible ,or an infeiror one any slight movement whilst drive left/right or over bumps could cause a slight rubbing sound.
The only thing is you can check for play using a steel bar or something and it does not move!!
i had this problem on the marea the garage where i had it done had it back 5 times .
they even showed me under the car everything was fine ,i just had to put up with it unfortunately.

Sven,

does your car still make this noise when you have someone seated in the front passenger seat?

If so I can't suggest anything new.
BUT, if the noise is only present when you're alone in the car one thing does spring to mind.

This is a long shot, but it drove me mad till I sussed what it was.
The seat-belt clip turned out to be banging against the trim of the passenger door.
Obviously this only happened when no-one was using the seat-belt.

I only mention it as you seem to have checked everything else!

Hope you get it sorted out.

Stuart.
