General A/C dryfilter replacement.
Guess this is the reciever dryer in the front LH wing area.. It is a pig to get to and I had mine done by my friend who owns a garage. He replaced the triple switch while he was there and said it would have been next to impossible without the car on a lift.

I removed the damaged filter yesterday without a lift...
It was a pain in the a..
The supply line from the condensor was quite easy to remove.
The line going to the evaporator was impossible to loosen.
I had to cut the bolt securing the line and then drill the bolt out.
The 3-state pressure switch seem to be OK.
If the switch fails, it's easy to replace, even with pressure on the system
(it's mounted on a needle valve).
The filter mountings was also difficult to remove.
I have pluged the lines and waiting to a new filter. (wanted to see how much were damaged before purchasing new parts).
Time spent 3 hrs.

In my case the triple switch had failed and the filter was due on time anyway. I looked at it and went back in the house and rang Dave

Have you replaced the line between the filter and the pass. compartment?
The hoses on this line aren't fresh... but they are OK.
I want it fixed so it runs for more than 2 months!
(in the last 2 years condensor, compressor and the line from compresssor to joint going to evaporator has been replaced and now this filter

The car was registered in Sept 2000, it still has all it's original hoses and has held this recharge for over a year. I think the original problem was the failed triple switch did not kick in the cooling fan or detect over pressure and the pressure blew out the seals in the compressor. This also accounts for why the sealing gloop failed. Dave put the exchange compressor on while the car was there. I am very twitchy about the a/c now and run it for 10 minutes every time I use the car I always listen to hear the clutch go in. No reason for the pic, except Marea Weekends are pretty cars.

Now i have a new problem, i need an o-ring to seal the hose from the compressor at the joint with the metal pipe going to the evaporator.
Fiat claims it's 6.7X1.8mm, but i've measured it to 13.4X2.4mm.
It's quite a difference... But i'm sure they are wrong.
I'm getting the parts tomorrow, so Sunday it A/C-time
