ideas you say ? errr scrap haha, i joke! no you could alwasy think about an engine conversion, the 1.6 90bhp 306 engine would be cheap to do, and in a car that weighs nothing could be something good to sell on, strip the back seats out . who needs weight.

Engine change sounds like a plan! We all know how you like to just pop engines in and out in a matter of minutes so shouldnt be a problem for you! Lower it, paint it a less horrible shade of whatever colour it may be and strip the interior for more power to weight ratio

It's french. They probably gave up half way through designing it.

But yeah engine swap would be a great idea, maybe turn it into a rallycross car?

Were you surprised how nippy it is as i got a 00 saxo 1.1 recently for free. Sunroof leaking alot lol. Drove it from dunlaoire flat out 115mph i mean km/h lol . Just spit and shine left to do to it and then its a back up car for me . That car brings out the houlagan in me i swear lol well wear with the pug

Lowering is a must! Will see if I can acquire 2 front springs, can lower the back myself

Possibly! You'd be surprised what's not on show... I remember picking up the blue fester from this small cottage with a tiny drive that is untill you saw what was around the back... Old Jags, Fords, French stuff, vans, plant machinery, engines, car parts

There as a chap in Kildare with his land full of cars... 5000+ at least :worship::worship::worship:

The brakes are "adequate" but the handbrake is beyond useless. I may aswell have none! :bang:

So more stuff was carried out...

First, debadged and no strips

I'll get the pressure washer at the sticky bits after

Now onto this lack of naff airbox...

I tore it out!

I really wanted this, a good snort from it :yum:

Alas, no way to fix that on and didn't have time to cut a hole in the bonnet... Yet

So I got out another filter and cobbled it onto the oem throttle bob...

Then put it back with a cobbled duct pipe. Sorted

There's a daycent rip out of it now!

Now to the spare wheel. I was shocked and terrified that it held air

This is one of the worst tyres I have ever seen. I've been places, seen stuff...

Removing that classy dud meant I got out a tyre lever and...

No more tray

Then I got rid of the sound deadening stuff in the boot...

Followed by a proper de-wipering!

Changed the rear shoes in the Saxo here today...and now the handbrake actually works!!

Overall braking has improve greatly...
Hub nuts where a nightmare to get off..broke a short extension, bent and twisted a long extention...had to get a 5ft steel tube, with 1ft long smaller tube in the middle, followed by another foot long smaller tube, followed by my other long extension, finally got it to move.

Old shoes where well past it, well the leading shoes had about 2inchs of friction material missing on the leading edge, other shoe was as good as new, but drums where ok, no scoring...

Saxo also needed a battery, got a decent one in scrappies for €10 so she's as good as new now lol

Month of April is always a busy one college wise! She's still under the oak tree, but still starts on the button

I did have a rip at trying to lower the back end but without a slide hammer that task is damn near impossible!

These cars are worthless in this condition, I might just turn it into a hotrod in my spare time :yum:

Well I may be in a minority of 1 but I'd say ignore all the daft ideas of a radical project, and do the opposite...

Stickerbombing ?? :yuck:

I really like the simple, clean, chunky look of the thing (even the wheels and trims) and also the interior - funky but classy. Compared to ugly modern blobs like the Ka and C1 etc it's quite a good looking little thing.

I think if you keep it standard (put badges back on) and tidy it up nicely, then concentrate on sensible performance improvements like engine, suspension, brakes, speakers... you'll have the opposite of the stereotypical messed-up bazzed-up Saxo 3-door that is all show and no go....

Obviously you've got a fair fleet of respectable, sensible, standard grown-up cars (405, 166, Tempra..) but I think the Fiesta and Polo turned out well.

As time moves on I find that clean, original older cars tend to stand out nicely among the modern stuff far more than typical modded efforts.

I tend to be of the opinion that less is more....

Alas there's alot to this car that others don't see...

It's quite crusty. You may have seen in the first post I cut a rectangle in the bonnet, that was to cut out the rust!

The brakes are like cheese

Rear axle has nearly had it in rust terms

Gearbox is gone. It still drives though, just holds no oil

Central locking is a danger to society Ahhhh

Most important is the fact that these cars over here are worthless, even if taxed and tested in that year they command no more than €400 for a minter with half the miles. 5 doors doing the damage there

So I have a choice on what to do, I can spend a fortune bringing it up to standard or turn it into something else for a different purpose, which is what I'm doing with it
