Technical 899cc cambelt - how tight?

can anyone tell me how to tell if the cambelt is at correct tension? Should I be able to twist it 90 degrees?

I'd be awfully surprised if you could, they're a chain drive on the 899's.

That would be the fan belt you're twisting. They go slack on the 899cc engines and squeal like a pig. You can tighten it or simply just replace it.

yes, of course, thats right. had just been reading a post about cambelt tension and hadnt realised that it was about a 1.1 and not a 0.9!
Anyway, are there any particular guidelines for determining the correct tension of the fan/alternator belt? (Obviously if its too loose it will squeal. If its too tight it can ruin bearings) Any advice would be appreciated.

should be able to twist 90 deg in middle of its longest side with just thumb and one finger
