General 850T introduction

Hi Alastair, glad you didn't mind the hijacking, it's surprising what a small world it is when it comes to these small vans, the little red camper I owned seems to just keep turning up out of the woodwork now and then!
I'll look forward to seeing some more pics of your mystery machine. Glad it's under cover...if you listen carefully you can hear the vans rusting!
Cheers,
Andy

Yes I know that is a worry!

Hey oh it's lasted this long, I dread to think what will be under the paintwork. Here I found another shot of it, awful window conversion, I have some replacement ones that fit the panels better.........

Ha, see what you mean about the windows. Never seen any like them in all my time being into these vans, would guess it's a sort of DIY conversion as you say. I think the sloped back design is someones idea of streamlining!

I do have a spare set of aluminium framed ones incidentally, plus a larger roof come to think of it (though it will need some TLC) should you get the urge.

Still, its certainly unique, never seen one like it as I say!

Cheers,

Andy

Hi Andy

Thanks I've already sourced some ally windows the ones fitted are grim, don't really know what to do with the top, need to look at. Was thinking of getting rid of and getting solid roof back in, as never going to use as camper?

Whilst I think, does anyone have any wheels that would fit it, either originals or something more interesting? I seem to be running a mixed fleet!!!!

Yes you do seem I do be rolling on a mixed bag! The front looks ok but the back one looks like Fiat Panda.

I do have a spare set of original 850t wheels but they're currently 'mobilising' a van which I need to get rid of as part of a clear-out I'm having. I've attached a photo of it being removed from it's long standing hide-out recently. (To be honest I can't decide whether to scrap it sell it as a 'spares or repair' on eBay, as it does need a lot of work but I haven't got the heart to break it!)

Suffice to say if I do break it you'd be welcome to the wheels. It also has a full roof panel which has never been cut-out for an elevating one so maybe that would be of use to you too?

If it helps in your quest for wheels I suspect that the rims on the 850T are the same as the Fiat 850 car, though do double check if you get the chance of some.

Cheers,

Andy
