Tuning 75 inlett or uno inlett

nah i want the punto 75 head on a spi inlet. cool ill look at the one in the scrappy see what condition its in. my uno inlet is port matched to the spi but doesnt look like i could open it out a massive amount more... ill try and fine a pic. but is the standard 1.1 inlett really ok? as the uno flows soooooo much better.

Just to make sure : spi gasket on punto inlet, as u see the mounting is way different at the top! Don't know about the mounting points on the uno inlet, hope the match the p75 head!

Cheers!

they are silly big in comparison. ill get a photo tomorrow.
I know i can put a finger into the spi head and its a tightish fit but the 75 head i can nearly get two in... giggity

They are bigger. However, much of the bigness is shrouded by the injector. The 1400 8v ones are bigger still.

If you want to go MPI, go MPI. You'll really need a better fuel pump and after market injection.

ive got a stilo fuel pump from the 1.4 so it will be fine. and im not really bothered mpi or spi just making best of what ive got. and uno inlet is the same as a spi inlet so will fit the same 'adaption' meothods to fit to a 75 head.

John, can you fit the 1368 8v head to the 1242? Any idea if the valves are bigger?

maybe.... im told the 1.4 8valve head is slighly longer
and the 16valve 1.4 is slightly longer then the 1.2

Im told the cylinders in the 1.4 are slightly further apart. (which makes sense to me as there is not much meat left between bores on the 1.2)

not saying the head wont fit anyway :)
BUT 1.4 8valves are rare and expensive. id spend the money on a getting bigger valves fitted into a head of your choice.

Dunno about the valves, but the head should be a straight swap. (8v for 8v)

For the OP, forget the MPI head: the P75 head is basically an early 1108 MPI head. The only thing in its favour is the cam. Use your old head, the Uno mani, the P75 cam, fit a 40mm tb.

If you compare the factory figures for MPI and SPI 1108s, they've virtually identical -- it was an emissions thing.

thats not right.
I recon ive seen the heads of every 8valve (other then maybe the very latest)
And the ONLY place to get a head like a 75 mpi is from a 75.

all other mpi 8valve heads have much smaller ports. it is DEFIANTLY not at early 1108 mpi head as these have the smallest ports of them all (altho to mpi manifold stud pattern is the same between all mpi heads)

I own 4 75 heads. 2 cento heads, one punto 60 and one sei 1108 mpi head

i already have a uno mani, a p75 cam and a larger tb. and im looking for more after that. and im thinking 75 head. bigger inlets but it will then need to go through the same exhaust so is it really going to help

Still, forget it. The size of the ports at the mani joint is irrelevant, it's the area around the valve head that matters. Any book on tuning will tell you the same..................

Decent porting job, exhaust mani, McCritch chip........... after that it's a better cam and ITBs (talk to Brooky).
