hi
I installed some 6X9's yesterday using an amp (i used to power them from head unit) and now they make a noise when i start the engine and drive, the noise is like a really puny turbo winding up but it is really annoying
i was wondering what i would have to do to get rid of this noise?

any suggestions welcome
TIA

Can you answer these questions for me.
How are you earthing the amp.
Are the RCA's from the amp running down the same side as the power cable. Are any bare metal wires touching the metal of the car at all.
Are the RCA's fully plugged in.

amp is earthed at the back of the car behind the carpet screwed in i think lol

yes they are running the same side of the car

there is no metal touching anything

and everything is fully plugged in

First thing i would say to do is check that the earth is bolted down with nut and bolt to a rubbed down section of body work as close to or in the spare wheel bay and then run the RCA down one side and power down the other. Report back if that doesnt sort your woes.

nope still no luck it still whines like a little dog lol and it is earthed at the rear of the car above the spare wheel bay

Wrap some remote wire around the RCA barrel and earth that and hold it in place with some electrical tape. If just doing one end doesnt work try both.

Its a high pitch frequency. Higher than the sub can play (y).
Do a search on Ground Loop and RCA Interference. Also take note of what was said in this thread. I spose i aught to do a guide for this (n)

No. Have a read and all should be clear. Basically it is the RCA's picking up the noise of the alternator. This can be caused by a lot of things. It can be a simple fix and i can result in completely reinstalling the whole system.

If you cant find a fix but i have outlined in quite a bit of detail a few times on what action to take, just drop us a line (y)

Ground loop isolators are just a mask to a problem not a solution. Its much better to solve the problem to prevent damage to any components, shortening their life span. Also if the problem is in the earth or something then ignoring the problem could potentially be dangerous.

makes a poping noise

i sorted the interferance problem thanks to stu but i have anoter problem i get a poping noise coming from my 6x9s when i start the car so unplugd my rca leads from the back of my head unit and it still did it :bang: i realy could do withe the help thanks:(

Do the Speaker wires run anywhere near the power cable.
Do the Rca's run the same side as the Power cable.
Does it do it with the RCA's unpluged from the amp.
Where have you earthed the Amp.
What gauge cabling are you using.
