Technical 6F/16F Cinque/Sei ECU Reader Project

Using a laptop intel core2 duo 2.1Ghz on Vista service pack 2, and the version of iaw ecu found here 0.1.3.27008. Shall be doing in that order this afternoon and see if it works.
Later Edit: Changed the port number and followed the steps you gave me TzOk and it worked. Cool :D
So, what does the Generic Relay tests because the car failed it and the stepper motor doesn´t stop after the recommended 30 seconds(left it on for 45 secs and then stopped the car and closed the app). All other tests passed.

0.1.3 is a veeeery old version. Stepper motor (IAV) test doesn't seem to work. Generic Relay is the main system relay (a.k.a. Power Latch), actually I don't know what this test does, as this relay is always on while ignition is on, but in my case this test ends with success.

Please use more recent version:

I need some help from You to complete my IAW ECU Scan - I need "logs" from all variants of IAW-16F, 8F, 18F and 18FD ECUs. These LOGs contain responses for all possible requests from range 0x00 to 0xA9. You may create these logs using VAG-COM 409.1 cable with FIAT 3-pin adaptor and attached program. Program is in Polish, but I think this won't be a problem - please connect diagnostic interface to your laptop and car, start the program, select adapter's COM port from the list next to the Port COM: label, click [Połącz] and turn the ignition ON. Now wait for process to complete and sent me generated text file.
Thank You for your help!

Hi man. Just saw this. The program is not working. Will try to help you this afternoon.

TzOk....I've sent you PM...I've got log from Punto 1242 16V Mk1 engine (IAW 18FD.5Z)

Rise & Shine

The problem :
- engine malfunction indicator lamp is flashes in 30 km 4-5 times ...
the car lose the strength 3-5 sec
prevent other car is fearful......
PLEASE HELP ME !!!

The Diag is Cool ! ( Just RS232 ) !!

But what is the Shorted To GND fail ?
Where is the ground in the body ? ( solder or screw ??? )

You are the MAN !!!

so just bought one of those 3 pin to obd2 adapters, they come with 2 croc clips

can see where the black one goes as there is an obvious earth connection of the ECU

however where to connect the red croc clip? do i just have to find a 12v line from somewhere?

btw this is on the fiat panda classic with an IAW 6F

trying to find out what is going on with the engine

as on startup it's very lumpy for about 30 secs then gradually goes into a normal state and there after is absolutely fine.

only does this on first start after having neem left for a while :-(

also which software will work with the IAW 6F on my old panda 1994?

i'm a c# developer so could help out if needed?

Black clip goes to the chassis/ECU ground and the red one to the undisturbed +12V ("30").

If you are C# developer, you may review the code and think something out to make communication more stable because the way it is done now is from the series "kids, please don't do that at your home" - i.e. cross thread memory access, volatile variables and other "interesting" things.

yes was having a try with it yesterday and couldn't get it to work properly, gave up and used the star trek prog instead.

was looking at the c# code last night doing some tweaking, added log4net also, might do a refactor

for moment trying to work out what's going on with my panda, as it's got a very odd unstable startup first time only and only for about 20secs, then goes to normal state

got it working kind of, although sometimes struggles to connect

however i don't seem to be getting any changes on the KO2 line, sticks at 0x80

is this normal when just sat in the drive? even with blipping the accel?

also what air temp would you expect it to be on a sunny day like today at startup? was 17 degrees which seems a bit low? and took quite a while to warm up

Where can i get these cables ?
So i can download this software and plug my 1997 Punto 1.1 Sx into my laptop and see whats going on via this Software.

i got my cables from ebay, pretty easy to find

i would imagine it would work with yours, but you should find out what model of ecu you have, it was stamped on mine

sadly with my car found out it was the head that had gone, just done the thing

what a nightmare those heads are...completely corroded away from 3 water channels to the combustion chambers, had to get it welded and resurfaced, the engineers said they get loads of fiats coming in like that

not sure if a design flaw or whether lots of us not replacing the antifreeze often enough...every 2 years min i've been told...

well it's the devil you know i suppose, it's been running fine until recently as they are pretty fault tolerant, so i could buy another cheap one and be back in the same place...

anyway fixed now...hopefully get a few more miles/years...

Ouch !!
That head doesn't look good (n)

I'll check the Ecu tomorrow.

Any chance you can send on a ebay link to what cables you bought ?

that is bad!!! Just buy another cheap, they are really cheap.

Ming

My thoughts exactly, if the head on mine goes i dunno if i'd spend the cash on it as i've a few other cars i can use.

How much did that sting you to get fixed ?
