after being in the garage 5 times , we have now been told the hybrid air con will not work when not going 40mph as it does not work on the battery , surely this cannot be the case as thats when I need my air con , sitting in the school run traffic with the children in the car ? how can they sell the car stating it has air con if only part of the time ?

Worth asking the European call centre.. 🤔

Dealers are generally pretty clueless

It works on the EV version … surely with today’s tech air con in an ICE car should be an easily done thing ?

If the Aircon compressor is powered off the car engine, then it stands to reason that the aircon will only work when the engine is running.

However the hybrid is only a mild hybrid? the motor acts on the engine Aux belt (unless they have changed the system) so I dont see why the AC wouldn't work when the car is being powered by the electric motor also.

Edit. So the motor is in the transmission more like a conventional Hybrid, however it can only do 1km at a maximum of 18kph in hybrid/electric only, therefore anything above 18kph (10-11mph) should need the engine running and therefore should operate the AC.

when sat stationary, say outside a school, then it is likely it shuts the engine off and would use the electric motor when you wanted to start moving again.

Thank you for this info , I will be asking about this on next communications with fiat

As a thought, I’d the car in some sort of fuel save eco mode?

The reason I ask is because our mini countryman will send less power (and therefore take longer to warm up) the heated seats.

If set in eco mode, is the car presuming that at lower speeds you’ll have the windows open and at higher speed you’ll close the window and run the aircon to be more efficient.

Is it worth putting the car in max fuel use mode, the most inefficient mode and seeing what happens

No its not in an eco mode and has been in garage 3 times for air con , the garage now says this is how it works , was wondering if there is anyone that has this car with the air con doing the same thing or even if theirs work on the electric so we know if it is the case , there is no info on this from fiat when buying or in the manual so we dont know if it is just our car or across the board ?
