Technical 500e Car will not switch off

@varesecrazy I eventually found the 'hidden' shutdown / start-up menu under settings on the screen on the steering column (not the central display). See this thread:

The shutdown worked and seems to have restored normal stop/start button function. There's a BCM error code B1A7D-2F Start Button - Signal Irregular which may be related.
The shutdown menu does not seem to appear when the car is in a 'normal' state, only when 'borked'.

The shut off seemed to take about a minute.

Dealer will look at the code / switch issue tomorrow.

It sounds as though you might have got a fix for this "fail to shutdown" problem using a special part of the menu. Did this work and has the problem repeated itelf and you have had to go back to this method of reset? Our car came up with the same Start Button error code. Was this related in some way to the problem or a red herring?

Item 6 on this list gives the procedure for the method. Unfortunately, it does not work on my car.
