Technical  Electric 500e Car will not switch off

@varesecrazy I eventually found the 'hidden' shutdown / start-up menu under settings on the screen on the steering column (not the central display). See this thread:

The shutdown worked and seems to have restored normal stop/start button function. There's a BCM error code B1A7D-2F Start Button - Signal Irregular which may be related.
The shutdown menu does not seem to appear when the car is in a 'normal' state, only when 'borked'.

The shut off seemed to take about a minute.

Dealer will look at the code / switch issue tomorrow.
Hi Nmeyne,

It sounds as though you might have got a fix for this "fail to shutdown" problem using a special part of the menu. Did this work and has the problem repeated itelf and you have had to go back to this method of reset? Our car came up with the same Start Button error code. Was this related in some way to the problem or a red herring?

Thanks

Sadly the dealer has been unable to fix this fault. The car was returned to us about 10 days ago after being with the deler for a month. All they had done was reset that fault codes in the vehicle controller. The faults reappeared on the second drive of the car the same day we collected it. Returned to the dealer the same day and still waiting for them and Fiat to sort it out. The car has been off the road for about 45 days of the last 60.

Will post more when I find what is happening.
Hope you get this i had the exact same problem ? I drove it fist to a garage but they couldnt connect their machine because Fiat has its own program so i drove straight to a Fiat dealetship told them i was going to run out of power etc i left it there and they fixed it in 20 minutes i asked how they done it which i was told it was reset through the dasboard but wouldnt show me as the mechanic had gone home ? So it is fixable as stated my problem was exactly the same so 45 days is insane to be honest try another Fiat deaker because i made out it eas the end of the world when i arrived they didnt even charge me the guy said just give the mechanics a tin of buscuits for a cup of tea (from a dealership that un heard of lol) the cost was £148.00 just to plug it in which is insane so maybe he did go through the dashboard settungs with a trick they know but cut a ling story short 20 minutes it is fixable

@Ianbuehring @fireblade101 Sorry for delay in reply! The problem was fixed for us and did not reappear, so I have not needed to reset since then. I think there have been at least two software updates since then. Perhaps it's less likely to happen now.
