I know in the US, cars equipped with the Bose system have an under seat sub. If you wanted to put in a system like that, it would take a lot of work. The electrical system on these 500s are pretty weak, mess one thing up, and it'll screw up the entire electrical system, and start blowing fuses and other things. Not worth the risk, or maybe it is worth the money risk if you want to take it to a FIAT garage, that will likely charge a lot for it. I would get in a 500 with the upgraded system, and try it out, and see if you like how it sounds before you try to get the system installed on your 1.2 S.
Might be worth a look. From recollection Pioneer and Alpine were the favoured brands for some of the early under seat subs (especially the PWE-S8) across a range of cars, not necessarily F500; lots of options to explore these days..
