Technical 500 excessive brake pedal travel

Hi everyone,

We bought a used fiat 500 and changed the front brake pads. I did this by opening the brake fluid reservoir and pushing the brake callipers pistons back.

Now the brake pedal travels to the floor and brakes only bind at the end of travel.

Is there a known issue or could it be there is something wrong?

Have you bled the brakes?

It's not an issue that I've heard of on this forum and I can't see that the brakes should need bleeding as taking the cap off the reservoir shouldn't let air into the brake lines. What happens if you pump the pedal quickly a few times?

Yes, does sound a bit strange. I changed the brake pads on our old POP just a couple of weeks before I got rid of it and didn't suffer any issues at all.
