General 4x4 prices

(Apologies in advance if this is not a question i should ask in this section of the forum)

What is a realistic price to expect a well cared for '06 4x4 with below average miles to sell for privately?

I'm trying to decide whether to sell privately, trade-in or keep for my son who will be learning to drive this year.

Obviously I've checked auto trader, but that is dominated by trade sellers and asking prices are not selling prices (!) so its not really much use!

Just sold one on a 06 plate.

Got the asking price of £3295.

Think I could have got more.

Thanks Hollis that's very helpful.
Mine has 38k miles, and has had important service items such as new tyres and the cam-belt in the last 4k miles. Not sure where that puts it vs the average, but I remember when I was buying it was difficult to find any evidence of cam belts being changed on most cars, despite it being a service item at 5 years.

Hi

Mine has just over 82,000 on the clock but is in very good condition. Just had full service, new tyres and MOT and Tax.

Guy has paid a deposit and picks it up tomorrow.
