4 6x9's

Half true. They will be 500w peak. But they may well be 500w peak per speaker being SPLX. They are renowned for raring peak completely different to most brands and is more likely to have an RMS per speaker of about 150w. However the quality will not be good enough to push it to its max. Depending on what ur running them off its not a bad pair of speakers for price. (y) But remember you get what you pay for especially when i comes to new audio equipment. (y)

I already have a set of comps and tweeters to go in,

They are going to be amped to.

4 6x9's sound really nice , Not to mention its loud as hell

maybe loud, but never nice. Rear fill just messes up the soundstage. And dont use the old 'I hav mates in the back' excuse. Give me 1 rea7on why rearfill is a good thing?

Becuase theres more room for speakers. lol. Plus 6x9's are cheaper. Theres 2 reasons for u mate. (y) If you can turn you speakers up that loud you wont hear where the sound is coming from. (y)

If you can afford to invest in decent components and can fit them then they will mostly be better though. (y)

Yea id have to agree, much much more room in the rear.

I've got most of my equipment in the rear, only set of components upfront (although something else new coming soon hopefully), but with my sony HU, if i turn on the DSO (dynamix sound something-or-another  ) it makes all the difference. With it off its flat and to rear ended. with it on, pure acoustic bliss

So i guess what im trying to say is, although alot of equipment can be put in the rear, with the correct processing and setup - you can achieve a very good sound stage :)

Well my main reasons for this are,

I orignally built a shelf and have cut 4 speakes spaces, but only have ever used 2. As my car is a 3 door punto, the rear ISNT that far away, so its not as if all the sound is at one end of the car. If its on the shelf or on the dash it still booms around the car, which you can get a nice sound inside from.

I have the comps ready to go in, but until then I am going to make use of 4 6x9's on the shelf. as i have gotten rid of my SUB's in the boot, it makes it very loud, and with them all ampd, has some nice bass from the Sony's.

Never replace a Sub, but its still a nice sound ;)

I know people get set in their ways (I know I have) but the fact remains that rearfill is not the way to go to get a 'good' sound. Now, you may disagree but thats only because one personss definition of a good sound differs greatly.

The fact is... Soundstage should come from in front of you and you should be able to define where each instrument comes from, from left to right.

Rearfill ruins this.

It may sound 'good' to you, but to an IASCA jusge, you wount score any points.

I agree with Sando. I hate 6x9 speakers. True there's a lot of room in the rear, but why have all the sound in the back? Do you go to a concert and turn your back to the stage as they're playing? Get some decent speakers in the front, sub in the back and enjoy. If its good enough for SQ judges, top manufacturers (Genesis for example), then its good enough for me.

here here. 6x9 are the bain of all sound. dont use them. i almost got kicked off this forum for ranting about 6X9s a year ago. thats only cos they are true scum. i can think of so many more reasons for not having them in your car instead of actually going to the extent of cutting holes in your parcel shelf to have them playing to your tailgate (who isnt listening anyway)
