Hi all, im new on the board, though reading it has helped alot fixing previous problems (brake switch/heater matrix/indicators...)

I've got three problems, which ill list in order of importance (how much they worry me)

Firstly, i've got a major oil leak which i've been reliably informed is from a rusted SUMP. I've got the haynes manual, which describes how to replace it. Just wondering if anyone had any comments/helpful hints before i attempt to do it

Secondly, driving down the M1 today my speedo started jumping to 0 and then back to the speed. It happens infrequently, and i'm guessing it's a loose connection somewhere. Any ideas?

Finally, when i wind my driver side window and wind it back up, it pops out about half way up at the rear, which means i have to push it back in and hold it whilst winding it up. Any ideas? (Haynes absolutly useless on the window problem)

Thanks for your help!

Dave

prob 2 = mabye a loose speedo wire look in haynes to find it
prob 3 plastice window guide broke or came off or ripped window seal remove door panel cut seal and find the white plastic guide maybe in the botton of the door if fell off

I had this problem on my 95 Punto Sporting. The speedo gets it's signal electrically. I found a dry solder joint on the circuit board in the Instrument Binacle. Saved me a fortune!!! Hope you can sort it out!
Look a bit further down the list of messages and you'll see someone else has the same problem.

just thought i'd follow up to the post with fixes/what happened for anyone searching for answers

the window's rubber seal was coming away from the inside passenger door rim, so it just needed pushing back and gluing.

replaced the sump. new sump was about 40 quid (trade) just needed a few tubes of instant gasket. Despite what haynes said, didn't need to drop the exhaust manifold, it can just be worked around. hasn't completly stopped the oil leak but has definatly helped.

speedo i haven't looked at yet, because it's calmed down recently and wasn't that much of a problem before.

It could be a lose connection at either end of the wire (pulse generator or the speedo).
The speedo is easily removed, unplug the 4 plugs, clean the connections and replace.
I don't think the sensor on the gearbox has any connections but may be worth a look (its a small black box bolted onto the gearbox).
