2nd pcv connection??

Hi all, we fixing a punto ( evo?) 199 engine 1.2 petrol build 2014, now we going to put a custom build short air intake on it because the standard airbox is a little cracked and ist very expensive to buy a new plastic box . Just to test it out. Now there are 2 rubber hoses connected to the standard airbox, the big one is for the positive cranckcase vent system that we know. But what is the small one for? It goes down behind the airbox into the intake manifold. Is this for helping sucking out the fumes that comes from the PCV ? Or is this something else?

I think you have it. It sucks oil vapours and deposits oil onto your MAF sensor causing poor running and visits to the workshop where a new MAF will be fitted etc. I.e. It helps pull crankase fumes out. Catch cans seem to be a very good idea indeed on the 1.2 Fiat engine. Keeps oil away from MAF and manifold and allows water vapour out, if you empty it.
