With a baby on the way we need to get a bigger car, the GF's 08 Punto isnt big enough for buggies and other kid stuff. We're seriously thinking about getting a 4dr 150 diesel Bravo, I have driven a brand new one before and was pleased with it.

After they are a couple of years old is there anything specific to look out for? Any common faults or issues that should have been recalled etc?

Any info would be great.

Cheers!

The bravo has a 400litre boot however rear legroom is tighter than the rival golf/astra/focus.

Just make sure its all up to date with service(every year or 18,000 miles which ever occurs first) and check tyres as they tend to eat them up if driven hard.
A few niggles with EGR valves seem to be the main problem with the multijets, saying that mine is 18months old 27k and no problems.
Also try and avoid a bravo that has a DPF system.. their causing a few problems too.

Some recalls on drop links that cause a knock from the front suspension (early bravos) apart from that its a very well built/reliable motor.
MPG can suffer around town if your heavy footed but on a long run can get 55-60mpg.
You might wanted to upgrade headlight bulbs because the standard ones are very poor.

The sport model is a little hard over the bumps due to the stiffer suspension and lower profile tyres.
The dynamic might suit you best with a family.. check the standard features on the fiat website.

The 150bhp is quick enough blended in with good economy and running costs ( £120 a year tax ) and a proven diesel thats used in astra, saab 93's and alfa's.

Best bet would be a pre-registered or second hand as they are great value for money nowdays... and check some bravos have 5 years warranty.

Im sure you wont be disappointed if you decide to get a 150 mjet

Definitely check deals for new / nearly new Bravo's, they've got to pretty much be the cheapest in its class.

In my experience, everything mechanical (and electrical) has so far been sound. But mine rattles itself into a frenzy.

Yeah we're probally going to get an 08 Bravo, good prices for 1 year old cars.

Thats for the info (y)
