General 2lt longer 5th Gear

Hi Guys,

Has anyone fitted a taller 5th gear ratio for their 2lt Marea?

I've a weekender in which I'm doing 3000miles per month and really want to drop the cruising revs.

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest way to drop the cruising revs is to buy a JTD...

You would make back the money in fuel savings in probably a year or two!

These Fiat engines are over square short stroke so at cruising speeds the piston speed is very low. My 1.8 geared a smidgen over 20 MPH/1000 rpm gives very good MPG (got 44 once , London to York) and still uses no oil between services. It started life as a daily hire car, so certainly does not have glazed bores! I would recomend getting a few economy driving tips.
