Technical 250 2.3 Multijet Odometer stopped

My odometer has stopped working at 248,906, the trip is still working as are all the rest around the display. Is this a gearbox sensor issue or something else?

My Ducato just last week stopped working at about the same figure
Trip still working and remaining fuel countdown
A bit of a coincidence ? Or is it

Does the odometer run from the gearbox or is it driven from the hub via abs cable?I am only wondering as we had the bottom joint and strut out of it. The odometer worked for a few days and has now stopped altogether.
