I had my 2005 244 maxi in the workshop to address some rust in the floor and frame at the rear door, and a small section in the nearside outer sill.

on further investigation there is considerable rust on both inner sills and a few other minor bits

When i went to start the van it moved forward, i checked it was in neutral:eek:
pressed the clutch started the van when the clutch is released the van moves, not at normal pace but alot more than just creeping.

I shut up the workshop and started looking for another van, but there is feck all available.

so it looks like im in for a lot of welding and you guys are in for a lot of questions re the gearbox:p (not to mention the ongoing list of small problems:) )

Hi mtimm

The van moving in neutral with the clutch engaged could be due to oil drag in the gearbox bearings, especially when cold. The amount of torque transfer will be pretty small, and you'd normally only notice the front wheels turning if the van were up on axle stands.
