why did fiat stop using the 2.0 5cyl unit, and replaced it with the 2.4 that is in the stilo abarth? i mean really, the 2.4 sounds like a whisper and doesnt pack the punch of the 2.0.

They didnt have any motor for the Abarth, so they picked one form Lancia and packed the car with electronics - its not a sporty engine, nor is it quite that good - but it was the only thing they had on the shelves and they needed a sport version because the sales went down

the 2.0 is clearly a lot smoother and more fun...

I'd imagine because Lancia were selling cars with the 2,4 so it was still in production, unlike the 20v which must have stopped a few yrs before the Stilo Abarth came out.
