I got stuck in mud and needed to be pulled out by a tractor. After this the steering would push either side when going straight on a flat road. I got the tracking checked and it was adjusted.
After this, the issue improved but the steering still feels 'vague'. However, if I drive for a while then switch off the ignition and instantly start again, the steering vastly improves.
1. This happens on any road surface, nothing to do with groves in tarmac
2. I got a second opinion by getting someone else to drive and didn't say anything to them beforehand. They reported the same including the restart fix
Any ideas? Is it worth putting in for a warranty fix or will they think I'm nuts?
Thank you
Keith

Hi

The steering is critical to safety, you need to get this checked out by a Fiat Professional dealer. The tracking is only one aspect of the front suspension geometry, all the angles need to be accurately checked in case something has got bent. Even a fraction of a degree can make a difference, impossible to see by eye.

If this is electric power steering, some types can compensate for a long term bias (e.g. road camber) so that they steer true without driver input. I guess it's possible that it's being fooled by a misalignment issue.

Thank you Anthony.
