I have a motorhome based on a 2.3l 160 bhp Ducato. It's a manual gearbox.
I set the ECO function by pressing the dashboard button, the yellow LED lights and the dashboard message Eco connected shows.
However the vehicle doesn't retain the setting when the engine is switched off and then back on again.
Is this normal or is there a fault?
Cannot see any way of keeping ECO switched on all the time.

What does the Eco button do on a manual gearbox version? I can see on an automatic that it would alter the gearchange strategy in software, but with a manual box does it only alter the gearchange indicator display on the instrument cluster?

If so, is it worth worrying about? If you spend all your time concentrating on the indicator display you might miss something crucial on the road ahead, and on vans without Eco, slavishly following the indicator display seems to be a good strategy for failed DPF regenerations. Surely you can drive a manual economically by making your own gearchange decisions based on sound and feel, the RPM display and experience as a driver?

I might be wrong. Maybe it reduces the available engine power or similar. But that can actually lead to higher fuel consumption if you have to drive harder to actually move the van along.

Can't speak for the diesel, but on my twinair, it reduces the 85hp to 76hp but knocks the torque figure from 145Nm to 100Nm, so quite a reduction. Don't know how it does it, but assume it's similar for the multijet.

It kills the character of the car for me, so mines remaining off.
