Hi All, ok some of you will know I have had this vehicle a year now. I have had a lot of setbacks with life with the sudden loss of my best friend last year after me buying this vehicle. He was supposed to do the labour on is as I am physically unable/limited to. It sat for a year on my driveway and all I had done to it was a 'very expensive' injector replacement as old one was seized/rusted in and couldn't be removed, (repaired scuttle water leak issue immediately).

So, a few weeks ago I brushed myself off and decided to get my teeth into it to keep carrying on with my friends and my dream. I took it for MOT and they failed it on brakes which was unsurprising as the discs had a layer of surface rust, me being me decided to replace the lot with all new discs, pads and shoes on all four corners. Big mistake! as then it failed a re-test as I couldn't drive it without MOT and tax to 'bed them in' to pass MOT, long story short, after an £850+ cost I now have a new MOT.

On to the next issue, whilst on its first [short] drive to mot centre, it went into Neutral itself a couple of times and I thought it was me not having experience of this vehicle but the DTC showed as P0919 (Selection and engagement position sensor).
However I decided to take it about 8 miles to pickup something and on return journey it started warning on gearbox, kept coming out of gears, the I noticed it would skip gear 3 and go to gear 4, then no traction, then slipping in gear thudding back in!. Managed to gently convince it to get me home with a lot of worrying.
I looked up the gearbox DTC and it said P2905 - Gearbox Sub-system.

NOW sit down for this part, this is a Minibus with ONLY 43,000 miles!, it has had following already spent 'ONLY' on the comfortmatic gearbox:
Oct 2019 - £5015.93 AT ONLY 31,762miles!!
Feb 2020 - £3180.00
Sept 2021 - £720.00
Feb 2022 - £9600.00
THATS A MASSIVE COST OF £18,515.93 spent ONLY on the GEARBOX! yes you read that right!

I now need to get this sorted and was wondering would there be some sort of resetting that would be needed due to it being sat for a year and be causing this?
Any help in next step I would need to do would be very much appreciated as I'm trying to soldier on with constant forces pushing against me.

Firstly reading your other posts I am so sorry you have had these issues but hopefully will be on the road soon.

1) Add an additional earth strap to engine
2) check the small clutch bottle (1/2 to 3/4 full)
3) Ignition on - does hydraulic pump build pressure
4) IGN on/ engine off. Foot on brake.
Can you change gears 1st, N, Reverse, back to N, back to 1st then through the gears once more
This will tell you that there is pressure in the system & the pump is working when pressure reduces & pumps up again.
5) check all connectors for corrosion. This is a common fault.

There are other things that cause this issue but you must do the above first.
Owning a Ducato your best investment is Multiecuscan. With a Comfortmatic gearbox then Multiecuscan is a must.

Your invoices do not show any part numbers. You need to get these numbers as you don't want to go changing parts that have already been replaced.

This info will be handy now & in the future.
Dual mass flywheel - replaced or within spec
Clutch, pressure plate & Concentric slave cylinder
Any other parts replaced?
I would also be questioning what a "reconditioned clutch is". Was this your clutch with only 43,000m on it just cleaned up & put back in because it was in good condition? If they don't want to tell you any info ask them what warranty you have on the clutch kit.

These gearboxes are strong. The issues 99% of the time are electrically &/or the Selespeed unit.

I see 32 hours labour on the 1st sheet, could well be that happened on the last sheet also..

A little concerning it had at least
2 x "recon clutches",

But it's use as a minibus may be something it never does as a camper.

You obviously have access to a decent code reader,
but I agree MES would make sense, as some of the codes will be Ducato specific

Thank you for the replies, as you can see I'm being tested to the max, my partners given up on it long ago, but I'm still hoping to get it going right. I am able to borrow MES when I need from a friend and I've been reading the codes with that.
These bills were whilst vehicle was with last owner and I dont see how I can go to the garage as I didn't own it when they repaired it.
I will do what Kahcorp says and get back to you, but please bear with me.
