Can someone help me , van won't turn over or click and the ignition works fine, the immobilizer light doesn't go off. When I turn the key off a few lights stay on dimly lit. What make things worse is I removed a cobra alarm that was spliced into the canbus ,I was really careful and the cables that are used to cut the starter circuit were not connected into it.

If the immobiliser light didn't go out correctly when the problem first occured, then I suspect that was what needed addressing rather than the Cobra alarm system, so now it is quite possible you have introduced a second fault into the system.:(
Although I quite agree with you about aftermarket alarms and they often are a cause of issues as generally not built to last as well as the factory set up.
Basically if the immobiliser light comes on with ignition , but doesn't go out before turning the key to start then no way will the engine start, regardless of any other issues.
Have you tried any spare key or had a good locksmith check it out? Note the word "good".;)

Does the immobilizer cut fuel or prevent turnover? I only have one chipped key but I have 2 more cut that need programmed. I have multiecu scan but haven't tried it just yet.

Generally I think engine will turn over but not try to fire up with factory immobiliser if light stays on.
I don't know about the Cobra system.
If you have a full version of MES it should tell you more, many on Forum MES section can advise on that, I don't use it as when I was buying I had to have MaxiEcu version as MES didn't recognise the Fiat Scudo with Peugeot 2.0 engine.

I've just had a thought, the van has start /stop could there be something related to that? I need a replacement switch as the rubber contacts are missing so the switch doesn't work .

This is where the alarm was spliced into for the can bus going by the wiring diagram of the alarm
Mmmmm!
Still maintain you need to get the factory immobiliser light to come on with the chipped key turned on, then go off before ignition turned to start for the factory immobiliser to de activate.
I know nothing about the Cobra system and am not a fan of aftermarket alarms as generally fail prematurely.
Can Bus wiring is generally a "twisted pair" of wires and if interferred with can cause problems meaning the ECU/BCM can have trouble reading them.

So i have been disconnecting the battery often as I'm still waiting on a new battery and last night I left it connected overnight and gave it a try, today and it started first time . So glad as I was worried that I caused more problems than I needed

Did lock light come on and go off this time?
Do not leave key anywhere near steering column when attatching or detaching battery

Yes it did. Now to get the security pin to program some more keys , is there a guide on reading the eeprom or has fiat stopped charging for people to get it

Some fiat dealers do not charge.
Ask your nearest dealer and what docs they want to see from you. Let us know what they reply
