Hi, this my first post here hope you chaps can help me.
I have a ducato 2012 130 6 speed van for work.
It has now covered 26k miles.
For the last 18 months I have been having problems with the clutch being juddery when pulling off, especially when on full lock in reverse. It is also bad when pulling away in first gear on the flat too though.
I went to fiat and they said it was the clutch plate breaking up, which they replaced under warranty.
A few months later the same problem comes back, again went back to fiat and they replace the clutch and flywheel this time. I can't remember what they said was wrong with it now.
This time they said they have fitted a new type of clutch (or was it flywheel, I can't remember!) as the original ones had a manufacturing fault and it had been redesigned, and would now be ok.
When driving home after that visit up the motorway I noticed a hot burning smell coming through the heater matrix, but only when the dial was on hot, not on cold, this stopped after a couple days.. Not sure what this could have been?

Now this clutch is doing exactly the same again, 3 months after the last. My warranty runs out in the next few months and I don't know what to do or who to believe now! Any one here know of similar problems or fixes? What should fiat be doing to sort this out? 3 clutches in 26k miles is stupid! And no, it's not my driving!!:D

Thanks, Chris (sorry for the long post!)

Has it got a tuning box fitted or been remapped are you sure you're not resting your foot on the clutch with a hydraulic clutch even a feather weight on the clutch pedal can slip it. Was the release bearing replaced?

I've Just had my Entire Clutch replaced & BEFORE it WAS a pain .. now seems OK .. You I'd go with Ecu's suggestion .... Release bearing FUBARRED !!! ..

Thanks for the reply chaps.
No it has not been re mapped or chipped or anything, completely standard..
Definitely don't have my foot anywhere near the clutch pedal whilst driving, always on the floor!
I'm not sure if the release bearing was replaced, the clutch plates (obviously!) were replaced, isn't the release bearing on there?

Your van has release bearing built into the concentric slave cylinder its obviously more expensive that a mechnical release bearing and therefore not necessarily included in the kit. It should have been changed ass its only a fraction of the price of a clutch job due to time but who knows.

OK thanks for the reply. I wondered if it could be the release bearing, and thought it would have been included in the kit, but as you say if its more expensive than a normal one, I bet they didnt replace it.. on to them on Monday I think.
