Ducato 2011 campervan

Introduction

We bought a 120 multijet l2h1 Fiat Ducato from 2011. Previous owner used it for his motocross bikes. We rebuilt it to a camperhome and now we live full time in it since May. We’ve been travelling northern Europe with It and plan to go more south as it gets colder and darker up north. We did not have to do that much work to make it nice (y) We built a simple bed (180x200), which we have rolling boxes underneath for storage. We have a 160w solar panel on the roof, 2x100ah 12volt batteries and a 1000watt 230v converter to get regular wall plugs. Our strategy was to build and change as little as possible to let experience guide us in our future improvements  We are very happy to hear feedback from you and discuss ideas in this thread. More improvements are coming! To see more from us you can follow our instagram page Freestyleframework.

Great fun isn't it? I did my conversion 8 years ago and probebly went a bit over the top but I wanted to be completely free of Campsites. I got double bed, sink/cooker combo, Fridge, shower, toilet and TV. :D

The best thing I did????? I installed a hot water boiler that heats the water either via 240V mains or via the engine coolant water. Stays hot at least 36 hours.

best things in ours is solar roof panels for charging leisure battery-and doughnut tank lpg that replaces the spare wheel powering the heating and cooker-----proper underslung water tanks are a god send too.....fitting a decent inverter and 170 A/H battery this week -if the battery can power our microwave for a few minutes off grid it will be a success for me lol

Nice van and conversion, we are wanting to "Upgrade" to a L2 when we can.
We converted our 2011 LH1 back in 2016. We insulated the whole van with foil backed self adhesive insulation, then a layer of recycled plastic loft insulation. It it even warm in the dead of winter. The bed is across the back with plenty of storage underneath. I used an old Mazda Bongo bench seat in the back for carrying passengers and for a comfy seat when we are parked up. I added a 100w solar panel (all I could afford at the time) 2 100ah leisure batteries, 1KW inverter, electric hookup, usual stove and sink. Our "fridge" is a 12v cool box on runners under the sink hooked up to a thermostat so its not running 24/7. Even replaced the stereo with an Android DVD head unit and added a flip down screen, for the rainy days, both running from the leisure circuit so the main bettery doesn't drain.
