we have a 2008 fiat ducato 2.3 diesel based motorhome. intermittent issue in that it wont tart as immobilizes itself. Dash shows padlock and ABS disconnected message. Sometimes says radiator fluid over temp (which it cant as hasn't run)! I think seems worse after rain, but not kept proper records. Getting fed up now as fiat commercial failing to find a fault as always seems to work when i get it booked into them! Any suggestions as I am thinking of just biting bullet and asking for new ecu and connecting wires? Can the immobiliser be bypassed as van is virtually unusable at resent. Cardiff based.

Is there water ingress via the windscreen scuttle and are the drain holes in the scuttle side panels free of dirt and have drain hoses fitted?
Why not cover the ECU with a plastic bag as a temporary trial?

Because the engine doesn't start the ECU stores no error codes.
I would use compressed air to clean and dry the wiring, then leave the bonnet open on a sunny day (if you have any around Cardiff). A water repellant spray should also work.
