Hi all, I am new to the site and am after some advice.

I recently changed the clutch on my 2005 2.8 JTD. Upon restarting the van everything seemed fine and it was driven to see if it worked and then left running for a while. No prblems so far...

I later took the van out on a drive. On the way home I took it up to 3500rpm. When I returned home and stopped (engine still running) I could here a knocking noise coming from the clutch. When I depress the clutch the knocking goes away. The Clutch pedal is also very spongy so i am going to bleed the system tomorrow... However, I cannot understand how bleeding the clutch, although necessary, will deal with this problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as dont want to go through the whole procedure again without having an idea of what has happenned

Regards
Morgan

Hi Morgan. This might be a silly question, but did you replace the throwout bearing and/or spigot ?
I know very little about Fiats, but I'm thinking that the gearbox may be similar to most manuals. It sounds like something is either bent or possibly cracked if the above has been replaced.
I'm guessing that the box will have to come out again to really nail this issue.
It may even be as simple as a partially stuck slave cylinder or the pin,
which is the first thing I would check, just in case. Stranger things have happened.
