Technical 2.8idtd injection pump priming

Hi All,
long time no see! A couple of years ago a valve snapped in my camper van writing off the engine. I've finally got around to rebuilding it and all is good except I just can't prime the injection pump. I've fuel going to it but nothing is coming out the pump nozzles that feed the injector pipes.

I can hear the pump solenoid clicking when I turn the ignition on and the pump was working perfectly before the tear down 6mths ago, it was so good it would run happily on 3 cylinders with a valve head bet into piston no1.

I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

2000 2.8idtd. mechanical injection, pre common rail. No lift pump in the tank

Have you bled the injection pump via its bleed screws?

The only bleed screw I can identify is part no 31 in this diagram

This a rare time when the internet has not come to the rescue!

FIXED.

Had to fit a priming bulb in the fuel line to fill the pump with diesel.
