Technical 2.8 jtd Manual gearbox

I am entertaining converting my auto to a manual.

What do people think about the manual gearbox?

I have come across one but it doesn't seem to shift into the gears properly.
Clutch seems to work.
But i can only put into 1st gear or neutral.

Is this a linkage problem, hydraulic problem or is the gearbox itself
broken?

Don't have much expeirence with the FIAT manual gearbox
for the x244 models.
Seems quite a tight shift. Not sure I like it or is it faulty.

Anybody know of any issues with the manual shift and gearbox?
The van is a 2003 year.
I suspect the gearbox may not be working?

Anyone know about any common issues?

Hi IceVovo,

I am pleased to learn that you are still active. Perhaps the attached link to a post from Crossingkeeper, may be of some interest. I do not have any complaints about gear changing on the MLGU5 box. Perhaps the biggest niggle is the large gap between 4th and 5th gear ratios, when the standard high ratio 5th gear is fitted. You need to be above 50mph/80kph before changing up into 5th gear. There is/was a lower ratio gear pair available, but these are more suited to heavier MH conversions. Also gear wheels are not cheap to buy.
