Technical 2.8 JTD EGR Valve?

Does the 2.8 JTD engine (2004) have an EGR valve fitted?

According to the workshop manual, yes, it does. Make sure the EGR is closed, disconnect the vacuum line leading to it and plug up the line. Now kiss your EGR goodbye and save future trouble.

Can our learned friend DMK be so kind as to point me in the right direction to locate it?
I did look on eLearn but couldn't find it.
Want to isolate mine as well.

This is the reason for my question.
I was looking to get rid/disable it, but can't find it/the connection from exhaust to inlet manifold from under the bonnet.
I will have a look underneath to see if its located nearer the turbo

Per the diagram in the workshop manual, it's on the left side of the engine, right back against the bulkhead under the windscreen wiper mechanism and looks like towards the wiper on the driver's side. There may be a cover there, so take any covers away to get a good look. You will see a convoluted pipe about an inch in diameter rising up from the exhaust manifold, turning right, going through the EGR valve and then carrying on to the inlet manifold. There will be a thin black vacuum pipe going to the top of the EGR. Disconnect that and plug the pipe with a small bolt. Take a drive and make sure there are no engine management lights coming on.
So it can't be seen that I've disabled the EGR on my engine, I followed the vac pipe back under a plastic cover where the solenoid valve is that actuates the EGR. I took the pipe off the inlet to that solenoid valve and plugged it and then replaced the cover. Don't disconnect the solenoid valve electrical connector or you will get an ecu error code.

If it puts the EM light on and I clear it with Multiecuscan will it it keep coming back on?
They seem to be more trouble than the they are worth and have had lots of problems with them on other vehicles and from what Riviera181 says it sounds like he does too!

On my 2.0 JTD it didn't throw up any errors, so all was well. Some engines have a absolute manifold pressure sensor and the ECU expects the inlet manifold pressure to change when it has told the EGR to open. If you've blanked the EGR off or disabled it, that pressure change doesn't happen and it will throw an error code and engine warning light. Resetting the ECU code history wouldn't help, as it'll just happen again. Even if your engine does have an inlet pressure sensor, it may still not set off an error if the EGR doesn't open. It just depends on the programming of the ECU and how accurate the sensor is. Just give disabling the EGR a try and see what happens!
On Elearn, do a search for E.G.R. That should show you the location. Searching for EGR didn't work for me, for some reason.

Had a good look at the weekend and thought someone had nicked it!
Is it possible Moodrater to tell from the VIN?
At least if it's not there it can't get choked up.

Yeah you can tell from the vin if it was there you'd have found it though, glad mine doesn't have it either, only other thing to gunk up your intake is the pcv but isn't much of a problem.
