And what do the diagnostics say. Sounds like you need a new mechanic.

The pre-facelift 2.8jtd's can suffer from throttle potentiometer and/or connecting loom failure which could cause this issue (but do check first before replacing!)

Thanks for reply, however I need someone who can read 3 pin ecu, will the pedal fault generate an error code, need a mechanic in the country that can nail this fault

If you have a laptop you can use this simple kkl cable with 3 pin adapter:

You can also get a bluetooth one and use alfaobd demo on your smartphone with the same adapter:

Thanks for reply, however tried the kkl cable which worked using the one plug, ABS was read, but there was an additional eng 3 pin which it would not connect successfully, if abs was fitted on some vans they had a separate plug, more confusion as always

Sure you have the right three pin, red/wht = k-line, blue/wht = l-line and black is signal ground hen croc clips for power. Theres no point in pursuing until you can read diagnostics, did you try changing the kkl baud rate etc.

No I will try and change baud rate next thanks, as said previous strange how I could read ABS unit ok, eng plug might be corroded
