Technical 2.8 into a 1.9

I'm thinking about fitting either a 2.5td or a 2.8td engine into my Motor home, circa 1995,apart from the engine what else is needed to make the bigger engine fit?

A donor vehicle.

Different gearbox, driveshafts, brakes, engine mountings, possibly exhaust depending on if yous is td and if your going to 2.5 or 2.8.

If yours is q10/q14 and the donor vehicle is q18 / different size wheels then it has different hubs, carriers, shocks, springs, wishbones. etc. althought the driveshaft may fit the hubs you have.

Thanks for the info. Mine is a turbo with 215/70 15. tyres. It's less than 3.5ton,think it's 2.8ton. Is there any way of telling if it's q10/14?

I have just finished fitting a 2.8 into a 1.9 J ducato. the 2.8 was from a x reg,i bought the complete van, the engine and gearbox dropped straight in, had to remove floor mounted gearlever and convert it to a dash mount, modified rear gearbox mounting, and had to have the driveshafts modified, i have compiled a cd showing all this, i will post one out to you, if you make a donation to the talbot motorhome forum.i have done this conversion and it works.

Why not swap the whole front suspension rather than getting driveshafts welded and balanced.

What wouldn't fit strut mount and subframe fixing points are the same

i took the struts off complete with hubs, the lower ball joint arms were different to that of the 1.9 J reg Ducato, could not interchange,

Mine is a 1995 Ducato so I'm presuming it would fit.
