Technical 2.3 Ducato Motorhome 1st Service cost?

Hi folks,
Can anyone give me an estimate of a "proper" FIAT 1st Service on a 2013 2.3 Ducato (motorhome) to maintain warranty
I've only had one response so far to email requests to a few garages - I thought they all would jump at the chance of my money!
That quote included a breakdown showing £45 just for the air filter. Seems pricey but assume that IS a genuine FIAT air filter!!??
£77 for 5 litres Selenia WR Diesel 5W40 oil, and £19 for oil filter.
Total quoted cost was £210.
Sounds like a "normal" price, but what experience have you folks had with costs?

hello could any body help with some advice? i have a 51 plate 2.8 jdt .pumps runs primes then shuts off. engine starts fine runs for a very short while then cuts out, and will start again after pump reprimes.

Hi, you should be able to buy the air filter for £15 and oil filter for £10 off ebay. Why use Selina oil ? buy the items youself then take them to the garage to fit, it should not invalidate your warranty.

For £250 I would be happy with that, all my main dealer services have cost more, latest one @ 112k was £450, that's on my 3.0 180 62 plate,

It's up to you what you oil and parts you use, but again it's up to you based on what you can afford, my peace of mind I let fiat do it as I know there's no issues with warranty (just had turbo and wiring probs sorted this week under warranty)
Best option is to get your mechanic (vat registered to comply with fiats warranty) to order genuine parts, if you know the mechanic, surely he will not charge you full price for the genuine parts?
As for oil
You must make sure it's the correct spec for fiat diesel turbos, a lot of the over the counter t/diesel oils are not too spec, especially if your vans got a dpf filter?

530000kms in three years using selina oil with oil sampling done by Caterpillar oil has proven up to the job sometimes going past 25000 kms without oil change no probs so far cheers Adam

I wouldn't recommend any one use other than genuine filters during the warranty period....I work in the trade and manufactures need little or no excuses to void your warranty...for the period of your warranty use only genuine

I've been referred to the FiatCanperAssistance web site FAQ's and here's some info copy/pasted from there.....

"When should the first service be carried out?

Servicing must be carried out every 45,000 km (40,000 for 2.2 engines) on Euro 4 engines. Servicing must be carried out every 48,000 km on Euro 5 engines.
However, we do recommend, if the annual mileage is low, that the engine oil and brake fluid are changed every two years.
Between services, we recommend that you check the fluid levels and perform routine checks.
The actual interval for changing the oil and replacing the engine oil filter depends on the vehicle usage conditions and is signalled by the warning light or message (if present) in the instrument panel (see chapter “Warning lights and messages”) or every 24 months

Are regular checks required in order for the warranty to remain valid?

NO, it is sufficient to respect the normal service schedule. No checks are required at the end of the first year, unless the mileage at which a service is required has been reached."


So, I'm now thinking I'll probably buy genuine FIAT oil filter and Selenia oil just for my own piece of mind and not get the full Service yet (did I mention I've only covered 2,800 miles?)

Those long service intervals are made up to sell vans to fleet managers not to maintain your engine. You'd want to be chaging the oil at least twice as often.
