Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and since it's a big community I thought I will find my answers here. Before half an year I bought a Dedra 2.0 8v Turbo engine catless pushing out 180hp. I know it's Lancia engine but I think they are literally the same as Croma 8v Turbo except the balance shafts in the Croma block. They are made from the same person after all. I'm planning of installing it in Fiat Coupe. If you're thinking why don't you just buy 16VT or 20VT.. well they are kinda tired and I'll have to strip their engine as well like I'm doing with this one. I'm a huge fan of Italian cars. Anyway let's get to the subject.. After reading some threads here I found out some swedish guys who are making great power out of the 8v lumps but sadly he's inactive from a long time. I'm not trying to max out the engine, I would like to get around 300-350hp. I have N/A Dedra intake and exhaust camshafts in great condition. The head will be ported and polished and valves will be lapped.
I can't post the thread link because I don't have enough posts but he said he even got a friend who made 600hp out of 8v engine which is very impressive in my opinion.
He said all you need is N/A camshafts, big pump and injectors and a massive turbo as he stated Holset HX40. I'll be using Cometic gasket as well. I've watched some videos of random cars with different Holset size turbos installed and they spool really late in my opinion. I will be driving this car everyday. I can't afford a thousand dollars for a brand new turbo so I need to satisfy myself with something else even if it's not the best. I'm not very familiar with the turbo models so can you tell me which turbos will fit my setup? I'll be using the stock log manifold but if it's needed equal length tubular will be made. I would like to spool as earlier as possible even if it's not making very high pressure in low rpms and not to struggle till rev limiter. I prefer later spool than struggle at top end. If there are great T25 turbos for their price I will make a new manifold. Any type of advices are welcome, I'm still learning a lot of stuff and I'm very interested in Fiat/Lancia and Alfa engines to modify in future. I'd like to grow my knowledge as much as possible.
