Hi I have a 1997 ducato kon kitti motorhome which I have just bought and it’s a bit smoky I’ve bin told it was a new turbo on it so checked and it looks new compared to the other components next to it but when I checked the air filter hose to the turbo I noticed oil in the pipe so traced it and it seemed to b cuming out the crankshaft breather so took it off and cleaned there’s no blockage or anything the took off the air hoses off the top of the engine where the flame start plug is and there’s oil in that pipe as well but the button hose was clear so just wounded if there’s summery else to check to see where this problem is cumin from thanks Chris

Model
Fait ducato kon kitti motorhome
Year
1997
Mileage
84000
What mileage has the vehicle done? The burning oil could be due to a worn engine, or has the turbo been replaced without cleaning the old oil out of the pipework? Burning oil smells totally different to blue/grey diesel smoke

The millage only says just over 84000 it’s bluey/gray smoke what’s cumin out it not black or anything so hope it’s not that major

Have you done an oil change since you’ve had it? Is the oil clean or very black as it’s sounding like a worn/neglected engine from what you’ve said. As a rule black smoke is easier to fix than blue so sounds like somethings definitely amiss. I’d probably be thinking about compression issues. Is it down on power? See what ideas others have 🙂

Can’t say it’s dwn in power it’s still quick of the mark and that I was kinda hope a sensor or summery wrong with it but it doesn’t have and air flow or the other sensor when I got it the guy said he had only just done the service and shown the receipt I’ve bin readin up on it and am hope it could b the head gasket that’s away and leaking oil in and and not the full piston and valve repair 😫 so we will see what if any1 else says about it and thanks for your help cheers Chris 👍

Blue/grey smoke means its burning oil along with the petrol. So the engine has a major problem, fixing that is usually very expensive. You can't really go anywhere with it like that, so you're in a bind. Bad luck with the purchase.

I would expect a 1997 Swift Kontiki to be fitted with a 2.5 litre diesel engine, Iveco 8140.47. This can be confirmed by looking at the VIN plate.

In a petrol yes, not necessarily in a diesel. I wouldn’t be hanging myself like that just yet, hence why I asked the smell. Investigation needed not jumping to conclusions 🙂

I had in mind a time, months ago, when i posted here about buying one of these myself.

Apparently 1997 was a bad year. Hopefully the OP doesn't have so many problems!

Having browsed the linked thread, I cannot see any evidence that 1997 was a bad year. The poster was warned that spares could be difficult to obtain for an older vehicle.

I’ll get it checked I just hope it’s nothing to exspensive but if needs b I’ll just need to dig deep thanks
Hi just wondering where I could get a workshop manual for it I’ve check eBay and all that but thay seem to b in a different language and just wondering aswell is the Peugeot boxer the same engine ish
