Punto (Mk1) 1996 Punto Convertible

Hi new here, I just rescued a 1996 punto convertible from the scrap heap. it drives pretty well but has seen beeter days. I was looking for help on trouble shooting a few faults to save time and money. my main fault is the fuel guage. I moves when i put fuel in but never much past empty. the light is on all the time and depending on my acceleration the needle moves up and down very visably. I though fuel sender as there are no obvious leaks. Any help would be great.
