if i had another shell i would have stuck Fallouts old 4x4 engine in it. (and taken if off sale in the classifieds as i am currently selling it hint hint)

then i would have just sold the car on again whilst trying to recover some of the costs..

i dont think i would keep the 4 speed. box though... though i have been told that the 4 speed boxes can be fun, i would look for a 5 speed box... then just change the 5th gear out to make it a little taller. as that is a lot more easy to do on a 2 wheel drive gearbox.
 
If I remember correctly David told me the gearbox was a combination of a Panda and 127 gearbox to give to best ratios for trialing, so its probably not going to be the best for road use.

Hello! Slow to spot this (compared to you guys at least). Yes, it was mine. Ah. And yes, it has lower ratios than a standard Panda and a straight cut first gear, so is great for trialling (or green laning for that matter) but is definitely less refined than a standard Panda on the road.

Am also toying with needing a 1242 engine but don't have the space right now and besides couldn't bring myself to scrap a car which was so capable off road.

It had been a pure Trials car for a number of years when I got it and hadn't been MOT'd for about 7 years. I got it MOT'd (after a reasonable amount of work) to save having to trailer it to events. Personally, I think it is best suited for Trials or offroad use, with occasional on-road ability.

Good luck any who do bid though! The guy who bought it from me seemed a decent chap.

Out of interest did you build it or buy it as it was? I'm sure the person we purchased dad's original late Selecta from back in 2008 has a similar Panda he was doing the same with. Just wondering if this was that one also or not.
