No fuel from old mechanical fuel pump to carb. Thinking about just converting to electric pump. Worried about constant flow to carb

I have twin 40 idf’s and run around 3psi. You don’t need much more than that on carbs. I run the same on Dellortos on an Alfa and SU’s on an MG.

One more thing. What size inlet and output should I get 5/16 or 3/8
Hi with all the questions youhave asked you can see its not straightforward changing away from the mechanical pump. Unless you really know what you are doing why not just replace the mechanical fuel pump with a new one? They are cheap, simple and reliable. If the engine stops they stop.
If you fit an electric pump you have to regulate pressure and what if you have an accident? Modern cars have an inertia switch to cut the fuel in a crash. You also need to make sure the rest of the fuel system has good integrity or you risk leaks and a fire!
My car runs twin 40 IDF’s and I use a mechanical fuel pump!

I use a Facet red top pump and a Malpassi Fuel Regulator. The pressure is set a 3.5psi for Twin Carbs. Anywhere between 2.5 and 3.5 should be ok for yours. It’s not the cheapest option but it probably one of the best. I use the same installation on my Fiats and Alfa no problems used for track and long distance touring.

Great words of advice! It would be the easiest, least amount of effort, and most inexpensive fix in my book...
