Planning to change 13" wheels and tires on my Panda 1.1 Active. How about 185/60 R14 tires? Will those affect speedometer, turning circle, etc? Those should improove the looks of my Panda, comparing to those nasty skinny ContiEcoContact3 tires...
Recomendations, advices, please. Thanks.

You'll currently have 155 wide tyres. The normal 14" alloys have 165 wide tyres (165/65 R14). To go up to 185, you might have an issue with rubbing with the wheel arch. Don't think I'd go just as wide as that.

Didn't think it would take wheels that wide... :p

Yellow is the best colour though... :D

It seems I was too optimistic:)
I'll consider 175/65 R14 then? That's the bottom line!:)
Sure, 15" wheels would be easier on the eye, but possibly stressful for tinny 1.1 engine, suspension, etc. Overall, car's great (in the city). Mine is Cocktail blue:cool:
Yellow is far better color.
My English sometimes...:(
Thanx

Howdy, I've trawled through the posts looking for confirmation of larger wheel/tyre combinations (obviously 185/65/15 are ok) - the pitiful 155/80/13 that the diesel comes with are a liability.

I'm not usually into mod's but as I'm going to fork out to replace them anyway I may as well have something half-decent - 16x7" wheels. The suitable tyres of 195/45/16 will be okay as they're the same radius as the standard tyres, what could be a concern though is the 7" rim width.

Now I'm little confused, I've been told that 185/60 14 would most probably rubb against wheel arches, but 195/50 15 wouldn't. Some people even installed 16's, and I'm having problems finding adequate width for 14's. Am I too cautious, should I just relax and buy 185/60 14? Thanks.
PS. I've checked speedo on alloywheels.com tire configurator as suggested. So the speedo should be fine, got minimal discrepancy, I'm just worried about the rubbing;).
Cheers.

... or to go for 15". What would be an adequate tire size for that one, without doing any modifications, and indeed, without rubbing effect. Thanx.

As long as the wheel offset is correct you'll have no bother with 14", but if you're going to the expenses of spending on new wheels/tyres you may as well select 15".

15" would be okay but personally I thought 16" would be about right, although 16" wheels have a limited choice. My thinking was that 17" might be a bit chavtastic.

My only concern is that once you go above 15" the wheel width increases from 6.5" to 7" so then you've got possible rubbing concerns (no pun intended!).

As yet I don't know of a Panda with anything larger than 15" fitted, although a local wheel 'specialist' said they'd be happy to try a couple of used 16 or 17" ones on the car as a trial.

if i was to order that set you have, do they need spacers or anything or is fitting straight forward?

Direct fit no spacers no problems with rubbing etc they comes with new bolts but not locking bolts so you will have to get those unless you want them nicked ;)

Tyre pressures 2psi above the fiat recomended ones for the panda ;)

I have an '05 MJT which I ordered with the optional 14" alloys and 165/65R14 tyres. I've done nearly 30K miles on the original set of Contis. and it'll be time for a change soon. I've asked this question before with a couple of replies, so I thought I'd go for the best of 3. The question is: Is it safe to fit 175/65R14 tyres on the 5J wheels I have?
