Technical 16v engine conversion,

Hi all,

if a 16v lump was put in place of a 8v,wouid it run off 8v loom,?

my lad has just bought a punto off someone- claiming its been converted,
looks like theyve spent silly money on it and gave up, Recon'd engine and box has gone in, (Abandoned project)

Runs but it is plagued with sensor faults, steering light on too,

Whats your guess'es here?
find loom/bsi etc from 16v.

not seen car yet iwill get some pics up when it gets towed here,

loom and virginised ecu compatable with car engine would have it flying assuming engine hasnt been messed with

or where they fitted with 16vs too,

punto go was 8 valve
it had sporty steery wheel
painted silver bits inside
side squabed sporty nice seats
possibly alloys

just looked up reg, its still in 8v tax class so no change on books,

aye true,

.Front bumper is cracked,
.Steering light on, ??
.Ecu is full of fault codes, sensor faults?

other than that he got it cheap enough, 300 sov's on 03 reg taxed & tested,
engine has been replaced 44k and recon box and new clutch,

he got wires crossed with 16v me thinks,

The blade has peeled off the wiper frame?

Fault codes galore is somebody playing me thinks - clear fault codes and drive

yup they look fubard,

no worries there ive got shed's full of punto bits, so will be a fixed for nil,

not sure on pwr steering fault tho.. this will be the hard bit,

Could you not just swap out the fuel injectors and replace with quads instead?
The 8 valve has 2 fuel ports per injector and the 16 valve obviously has 4.
All be it that's not a cheap option at nearly 70 a pop.

yes true,it is indeed a 8v,

it will be coming out mind, and a 16v going in

cleared codes,

2 have returned, P0141 & P0300

power steering motor is very Whiney,


had alook at reciepts, 13-09-2013

1.2 engine (41k) and recon box & clutch fitted, 700 notes,

they seen her coming

box is nice and shiney but engine as got typical oil leak down the side,
nice and quiet lump tho,

headlights are aftermarket made by sonar. anyone heard of them,
anyway there coming off,

wheels are fox jobbies, tyres are coming off and rims getting weighed in

if you add up all the bits and then have to fit it all and warrant it i think 7 is very fair
